This exercise is a good way to start remembering the experiences and contacts that you have with Higher Energies, such as Crystal Skulls, your Guardian Angels, Master and other Higher Beings. The exercise is meant to assist you in beginning to use dreams lucidly and creatively. It will assist you in remembering your dreams, as well as becoming aware in them.
The exercise utilizes a special spiritual point, which is located in one of your subtle bodies – sometimes called the aura. In other words, it is not on the physical body - however it funnels energy into the physical body. I will describe a spot close to where it is located on the head, however, it is actually located slightly above the head. (See drawing at left)
The Aura is an electromagnetic energy field around each of us. It’s not visible to most people, but it is instinctively sensed or experienced by others. The aura is often shaped somewhat like an eggshell, with colors and clouds swirling around inside. This energy field extends beyond your fingertips and expands or contracts, depending on what you are doing and how you are feeling.
The aura has several levels that are intuitively experienced by people. The energy point that we are going to work with in this exercise is located in what has been called the “Soul Body.” It is not a part of the physical world, It is part of a higher spiritual realm, connecting us to the God realms, beyond thought and time.
It’s fitting that this exercise works with this particular energy field, because it is located only around the head. One school of thought is that ancient peoples used the crystal skulls to represent this high level of spiritual energy.
The point we are going to work with is an intense energy vortex, bringing higher spiritual energies from other realms into your physical body. If you don't believe in the idea of auras, other realms or subtle energies, you can still try the exercise and see if it works for you. It is not dependent on your beliefs. All you have to do is imagine or pretend that you have this point! By being willing to imagine or pretend that something is happening, your intent is engaged - and something will happen.
This exercise, is “intent driven,” as are all exercises that utilize the subtle energies around us. When you start to act "as if" something is possible, your intent will start the process. Our language doesn’t have words to describe this process precisely, so it can be a little difficult to explain. I will attempt to describe what to do and please feel free to ask questions if I am not being clear.
If you have heard about chakras, you may understand the concept a little easier. This point I will tell you about is a focal point where great energies are coming into the physical body, via the subtle bodies. IT is not located on the physical body, or even in one of the higher bodies that you may usually work with. It is located in the Soul body. More about this in a moment.
I like to prepare for any spiritual exercise by taking a minute or two beforehand to start relaxing a bit and opening to whatever degree is appropriate and natural at this time.
I begin by bringing thoughts of someone or something that I love into my mind and into my heart. I imagine that someone or something I love is in front of me and I am giving them a hug, drawing them close to my heart. You need to pick someone or something simple, that you do not have a lot of issues with. It could be a dog, or a child… Someone or something that you feel the love with naturally enough to make you smile. Take deep breath and breath in the hug and the love you have for this someone or something and allow it to open you heart to whatever degree is appropriate and natural for you, at this time. .
This is very simple to do and it helps to open the heart chakra.
There are also physiological reasons why this works.
You just do this for a few moments and then several things begin to happen:
the RAS or Reticular Activating System is accessed. This is necessary because the critical part of mind will often stop anything new from coming into a person's awareness. This is hard wired in, as part of the survival instincts. The reticular activating system of the brain is connected to the limbic system of the brain, the most primitive part. It's the animal part of the brain. The RAS is the thing that stops affirmations from working, and lots of other things that people do to try and change their minds and habits. That part of the brain sees anything new as suspicious and dangerous. It likes habits and likes the person to do the same things over and over, because it knows the outcomes. New things could be a danger to the person, so it wants interfere with a person doing anything unfamiliar. It's a necessary part of the brain, even though it's a pesky critter. It's the part of our brain that allows us to wear clothing and not go insane from the constant stimulus. It's part of our survival mechanisms.
The RAS is only accessed through the so called primitive emotions or needs - just a few of those are fear, hunger, anger, thirst, pain, etc. Many of the ancient Mystery schools, Shamanistic teaching, etc. use extreme trauma and or shock in the initiates to access this part of the brain. I suspect it was also a control mechanism, for other reasons, because they were surely aware that there is another way to access this “Gate Keeper” or “Censor” part of the brain. Doorways will open gently without being bashed in. Love is also a ‘primitive’ basic emotion. It will also unlock these doorways.
Once the RAS is accessed, then it relaxes for a short time, and the person is naturally and effortlessly more open to new thoughts and experiences. New habits (whether thoughts or actions) may be formed more easily and quickly, once this area of the brain is accessed. This could be positive or negative. However I’m sure that you can see that there could be a great benefit in being able to access it deliberately and consciously.
Higher energies start to flow in through the crown chakra and into and through the heart chakra. A lot of people have blocks here and those blocks often stop the
feelings of Love and compassion. These blocks can also interfere with intimacy and feelings of affection.
Those two things are the most important things about this exercise. This is NOT a meditation. It takes less than a minute to do, yet, it is very powerful. This exercise can also allow deeper meditative states to be achieved, in a relatively easy manner, by many people.
Next, take a moment and Ground your energy at the base chakra. Take a few deep breaths and let them out slowly. Now, pretend or imagine that there is a beautiful, warm Golden light coming into the top of your head. Take a deep breath and imagine that you are breathing in the Golden light - as you breath out, allow it to move down and throughout your entire body. Fill yourself with the light, breathing in and out naturally and rather rhythmically.
Now allow the light to move down the spine, and let it go out the base of the spine and right out of the body, through a long cord (or perhaps roots, like tree roots) coming out of the base of your spine and going deep into the ground, securing you to Mother Earth. You are secure, yet it allows you complete freedom of movement.
Continue to allow the Golden light to move into the top of your head and out of the roots or cord, almost like breathing. You may also see the light coming out of your feet, if you wish.
Now gently place your attention on a spiritual point located at the back of the head. It is about ½ inch above the occipital ridge, in the middle. That’s the bumpy ridge that runs round the back of your head. If you move your fingers over the area, you will feel a slight indentation. It’s about ½" to ¾” in diameter. Everyone has this ridge and this spiritual point.
On the physical body, this is also the site of a powerful acupuncture point. However, we are not activating the acupuncture point, neither the ‘jin shin point’ in the area, nor any other kind of point that you may have heard of being used in energy work. This point is located in that very fine subtle body surrounding only the head. It has been known by various names, but we will call it the Soul body.
This is the approximate physical point to begin with, but it is not on the physical body. It is located just above and at a higher vibration than the physical and as well as the usual subtle energy bodies.
Place your attention on that area at the back of the head and continue to breath slowly and deeply. Imagine your breath is moving in a circular pattern, upwards, over the head, around it and down into and then through the point. Pretend that your breath is a bright white light, forming a circle, starting at the exhalation from your nose, going up and around your head and into the point. Time your imaginary circle of breath so that when you slowly breath out, your breath follows this imaginary circle, upwards, around the head and into the point. When your breath gets into the point, you “inhale it” into the point, bringing the breath and the energy right inside your head, filling it and then let it back out your nose. It may be unfamiliar, at first, but just keep it up. This is a deeply relaxing rhythm when you get the hang of it. As you begin the breathing, start to chant the sound of Zeeeeeeeee.
As you do this, suggest to yourself that the point is opening, to whatever degree is natural and appropriate and correct for you, at this time. Be sure and use the words, natural, appropriate and correct. No need to force anything, simply allow it to happen.
Do this breathing and chanting for about two to five minutes. You may wish to work up to longer periods of this type of breathing, depending on whether or not you are comfortable with it.
After a few moments of the circular breathing into the point, take a moment to ask for assistance from your Crystal Skull, you Guardian Angel or the Masters who are here to help you. Ask them for their assistance in your quest to open more fully to your dream experiences with these Higher Beings. Ask for them to come to you in your dreams.
If it is night time and you try this when you are in bed, simply go to sleep after you finish. Otherwise, slowly bring your focus back to the room you are in and open your eyes.
A few words of caution. Doing this exercise is perfectly safe. Results vary from just getting a very good nights sleep, to dramatic, vivid experiences. Whatever you get is just fine. You are teaching your mind to open to spiritual dreaming and this may take some practice and a little time.
You will get even better results if you keep a dream journal of your experiences. Write down anything that comes to mind. Use all of your senses to bring back smells, sounds, colors, location, etc. Feelings are especially important, as well as characters in the dream that remind you of or someone or something.
There is no way to “hurry up” the process or “blast” the point open. If you are impatient, and try to take shortcuts, it doesn’t work. This kind of breathing with intent, into this point, will leave you energized, rather than experiencing adverse side effects. I have never seen anyone be able to force one of these points open, but if someone did manage to do it, I doubt very much if it would be a comfortable experience. Rushing things of a spiritual nature can cause a type of “spiritual” shock” to your system. This can feel like the flu, cause unusual weakness, or you could just feel “spacey.” Some people get frightened by an intense experience they are not ready for, and then their spiritual growth stops.
You may have felt this kind of shock, perhaps when you found a spiritual or psychic subject that totally fascinated you. You read one book after another, take every workshop, get readings about it, etc. You go into a kind of overload. That’s not the path of balance! Pushing could actually set you back on your opening process. Like it or not, patience is a part of our unfoldment!
So just take it easy. Ask for what is appropriate, natural and correct for you now.
If you are interested in experiencing and working with past lives in your dreams, you can use the color Orange instead of the White Light, for your breath while you are chanting the sound ‘Zeeeeeeeee.’
Do the circular breathing in to the point, and chant the sound, and then, ask to be shown a past life in your dreams.
This is especially good when you have problems with another person and don't know why. I make no claims that what you see will be a past life, although many, many people do have experiences they believe are visions of other lives. The information you will get – such as the manner in which the people in the dream are behaving towards one another and especially any feelings involved in the relationships – can be very insightful. It’s well worth the try.
Again, be patient. I have worked with some dream researchers, using this method and it is very effective. These things are highly individual. Different exercises appeal to and work with different people. There are many other exercises that you can try. Do only what feels right to you, personally. Let's face it, if something doesn't appeal to you, you probably won't do it anyway!
To specifically connect with a skull:
Instead of breathing into the point, try this:
Hold your crystal skull firmly in both hands (or you may hold an image of one of the ancient ones.)
Do the circular breathing as described, but instead of breathing into the point on your head, direct your breath into the skull’s face, and out through the back of the skull, in the area of where the point is on the skull, then bring your breath back out and up and around, and into your third eye area. Continue the breathing routine for about 2-5 minutes.
Breath in and through your crystal skull: Inhale into Your 3rd eye area, exhale out into the skull’s third eye area, continuing around and around.
